1. Rod Mill Facility
VL’s wire rod line consists of two SCR-AL-3650 wire rod Mills supplied by M/s South Wire. The SCR-AL-3650 System is designed to produce 9.5 mm diameter rod in level wound coils at a production rate of 8 metric tons per hour, with OTT coiler. The casting lines are installed with in-line degassing and filtration systems to ensure good internal metal quality and cleanliness. The mills are well equipped to manufacture products meeting world class quality standards. The chemical composition is ensured using state of art spectrometers. Experienced professionals test mechanical properties and conductivity using most modern equipments in a highly equipped laboratory. Each and every coil is visually inspected before clearing it for packing and despatch.

Packing
The packing provided is sea-worthy. The coil is wrapped with layers of expanded polythene, HMHDPE. LDPE and HDPE woven fabric, one over another. The coil is then placed on a wooden pallet in eye-to-sky position; and strapped with PET Strap.

2. Billet Casting Facility
VL’s billet casting line comprises of state-of-the- art Wagstaff Air Slip casting unit with all associated in-line metal treatment facilities consisting of Dual rod grain refiner unit , Degassing unit and Metal filtration unit. Air slip casting technology together with the installed in-line treatment facilities ensures that products cast through the line meet all internal and surface quality requirements . The casting unit is fed by 2 electrically heated tilting type furnaces. In-house laboratory is equipped with Optical emission spectrometers to ensure that products meet the specified chemical composition. Cast billets are inspected and homogenized before they are cut to the required lengths and packed at the sawing facility.

VL’s casting facility is currently equipped to produce 7’’ , 8’’ and 9’’ diameter billets in 6xxxx series alloys.

Physical Characteristics
